Colon Cancer Patient Finds Hope in Mexico: An Alternative Treatment Journey
Wade Havenga, from Alberta, Canada, was diagnosed with colon cancer earlier this year. Like many patients, his journey began quickly—requiring fast decisions and immediate action.
While undergoing chemotherapy in Canada, Wade began exploring additional treatment options that could support his recovery.
What he found was something he didn’t expect: a clinic willing to work with his existing treatment plan—not against it.
“They were willing to work with the schedule I have in Canada… and created something specific for me.”
Instead of requiring him to choose one path over another, the team designed a personalized plan that allowed him to continue his chemotherapy at home while receiving integrative treatments abroad.
This flexibility made all the difference.
Wade was able to travel for short, structured visits—balancing care in both countries without interrupting his progress.
“I came down for nine days, went back home, and came again… and I feel a lot better.”
Throughout his experience, he found the process seamless and supportive.
Every question was answered quickly, and the team ensured he felt confident and informed at every step.
“Everybody’s been very good… very helpful. I have no complaints at all.”
One of the biggest challenges he faced back home was access.
Many of the treatments he was seeking simply weren’t available or supported within the healthcare system.
That limitation ultimately led him to look elsewhere.
“It’s not offered at home… the system mainly supports chemotherapy.”
For Wade, timing was critical.
He understood that when it comes to cancer, delays can make a difference—so he chose to act quickly.
“Time is of the essence… don’t take long. Decide and move forward if you’re comfortable.”
Today, he looks ahead with confidence—grateful for a treatment approach that adapts to his needs, not the other way around.
“I’m glad I came… no remorse at all.”
